Lake Land Softball Team Earns Trip To Nationals

The Lake Land College softball team won the National Junior College Athletic Association Division Region 24 Tournament championship Tuesday.

The Lakers claimed three games during the day after falling in a contest Monday. The tourney was double elimination.

Lake Land defeated John A. Logan, 8-7 after Logan had given the Lakers an 11-0 loss in Monday play.

The Lakers then defeated Wabash Valley 5-3 and 13-2 to win their eighth Region 24 championship in nine years.

A member of the Lakers is Taylor Rentfro, a Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg player who is a freshman and plays third base.

The Lakers gave Coach Nic Nelson his 500th career win with a 50-17 overall record.

Lake Land will head to the National Tournament at the Canyons Complex in St. George, Utah where it will be held May 22-25.
