Altamont, C'land, T-town Win In Softball Regionals

Altamont High School handed Neoga a 6-2 loss in Class 1A Effingham St. Anthony Softball Regional action Wednesday. The Indians took a 2-0 lead in the third inning then tacked on four more in the fifth. Neoga scored its two runs in the sixth.

Altamont had 12 hits led by Abby Goeckner with two singles and a double. Mary Guse and Bailey Teasley added a double each. Teasley had two RBI and Guse one. Tinley Mette contributed two singles.

Neoga was led by Molly Sheehan with two singles.

Altamont improved to 11-16 and will now face Effingham St. Anthony at 4:30 p.m. Friday for the regional championship.

Class 1A Cumberland Regional

Cumberland picked up a 9-5 win over Dieterich in a big hitting contest for both schools in the Cumberland Regional Wednesday.

The Pirates had 10 hits led by Danae Sowers with two doubles and two RBI, Madison Hendrix with a single, double and an RBI and Micaela Bradley with two singles and two RBI.

Dieterich outhit Cumberland with 11. Jenny Robards led the way with three singles and two RBI. Emily Bloemer had a double and two RBI and Jadyn Pruemer, Megan Bierman and Kaitlyn Bloemer with two singles each.

Cumberland (19-6) advances to face Casey-Westfield for the regional title at 4:30 p.m. Friday.

The Brownstown/St. Elmo vs. Red Hill (Bridgeport) contest was postponed to today.

 

Class 2A Teutopolis Regional

Teutopolis blanked Pana 5-0 to advance to the title contest of its own Class 2A Regional Wednesday.

The Wooden Shoes took a 1-0 first inning lead, tacked on another run in the second, two in the third and one in the fourth.

T-town had seven hits led by Allie Niebrugge with a single and double.Tthe other five hits were singles by five different players.

Allie Brumleve threw a two-hitter with one walk and six strikeouts.

T-town (12-10) advances to the championship game against Shelbyville at 4:30 p.m. Friday.
