ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Junior infielder Allison Apke (Teutopolis) was a repeat First-Team Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete selection and senior catcher Katie Habryle earned honorable mention Valley Scholar-Athlete honors according to an announcement by the league office Monday afternoon.

Apke is now the seventh two-time First-Team MVC Scholar-Athlete honoree in program history, after garnering first-team honors last year in her first year of eligibility.  Habryle took home honorable mention recognition for the first time in her career.

A Second-Team All-MVC pick in 2019, Apke led the Braves with a .349 batting average and her 12 home runs tied for third most in the MVC this spring.  She was fourth in the MVC with a .675 slugging percentage, which is fifth among Bradley season marks, while her .468 on base percentage was seventh in the Valley this year in addition to ranking seventh in Bradley history.

A mechanical engineering major (biomedical) with a 3.30 cumulative grade point average, Apke hit .377 and drove in 24 runs during conference action.  She collected hits in 20 of 25 league games and reached base safely in all but two MVC contests.  She broke Bradley’s career home run record this spring and is the only player in program history to have 10 or more homers in two different seasons.

Apke will enter her senior season eighth in Bradley history with 93 career RBI, while her 57 career walks are tied for sixth.  Maria Schroeder (97) and Kim Suffield (95) are the only players in Bradley Softball history to have more career RBI by the end of their junior seasons than Apke and she is just three home runs from pushing her career total among the top 20 in MVC history.  Apke hit .443 with runners on base and owned a .413 average with runners in scoring position this year.

In addition to the honorable mention MVC Scholar-Athlete recognition, Habryle was named to the MVC’s All-Defensive team in 2019.  Habryle started 30 of 50 games at catcher this spring and owned a team-best .989 fielding percentage, helping Bradley to an 18-12 record when she was the team’s starting backstop.

A spots communication major with a 3.94 cumulative grade point average, Habryle had career highs for games played, starts, at bats, runs, hits, doubles, homers and RBI in her final season.  She smashed four of her five homers in conference play, finishing her career tied for ninth in Bradley history with 14 career home runs.  Habryle had nine multi-hit games and five outings with multiple RBI this past season.

Habryle owned a .300 average in road games, helping Bradley to a 13-6 road mark on the year, which included a program record 11-game road win streak.  She was named Bradley’s Slane College of Communications Outstanding Student in Sports Communication for 2018-19.

In order to be eligible, student-athletes must have at 3.2 GPA or higher, be at least a sophomore in athletic and academic standing and meet certain playing requirements.
