Bulldogs Win, Hearts Fall, Area Softball Roundup

Effingham St. Anthony pounded out 11 hits and was aided by six Shelbyville errors in a 14-3 high school softball win at Lake Land College Monday.

 

The Bulldogs took a 3-0 opening inning lead and scored two in the second and third, four in the fourth and ended the game in the fifth via the 10-run rule with three more runs.

Katie Kabbes knocked out a single, home run and finished with four RBI. Allie Day had two singles, a triple and four RBI. Karlee Roepke added two singles and two RBI and Liz Day a double and two RBI.

Jessica Coffin picked up the pitching win on a six-hitter with two walks and a strikeout.

At Effingham

Effingham could score only two runs in the fourth inning while Hillsboro handed the Hearts a 5-3 loss Monday.

EHS outhit the Hiltoppers by a 7-4 count. The Hearts were led by Jacy Boatman with a single, double and an RBI, Carsyn Fearday with a triple and Morgan Krouse with a double and an RBI.

H. Major led the Hiltoppers with a single, home run and three RBI.

At Neoga

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg handed Neoga a 12-1 loss as two National Trail Conference teams met Monday.

The Hatchets edged out to a 1-0 second inning lead and finished out with six in the sixth.

Carson Cole and Mackenzi Tabbert had a single, home run and an RBI each for the winners. Hannah Hayes added a single, triple and two RBI. Mackinzee Reynolds had a single and double while Ava Bennett had a double, triple and an RBI.

Neoga had three hits, all singles by Kelsey Partlow, Molly Sheehan and Makenzie Saunders.

Megan Schlechte picked up the pitching win on the three-hitter with eight strikeouts.

South Central broke a 2-2 tie with a four-run third and finished out with seven in the fourth for a 13-3 victory over Cisne Monday.

The Cougars finished with 12 hits led by Angelica Rivera with three singles and Katie Shumate, Laney Webster and Sydnee Garrett with two singles each.

South Central improves to 7-2 on the season.
