St. Anthony High School seniors Liz and Allie Day Tuesday formally announced their intent to play college softball at MacMurray College in Jacksonville.

The twins said their first decision was whether to go to college at the same school, then they decided on where to attend. Liz will be catching Allie again this season for the Lady Bulldogs, but Liz said she has been asked about playing shortstop at MacMurray as they have some depth at catcher this fall.

Both girls said they fell in love with the MacMurray campus, but also with the other team members there, making it an easier decision.

Bulldogs Coach Crystal Tipton said Allie is more quiet until some enthusiasm is needed in a game situation, while Liz is more vocal, "but in a good way". Tipton said she will have to monitor the progress of MacMurray, since they will battle Tipton's alma mater, Blackburn College in Carlinville.

Tipton talked with Greg Sapp at the signing ceremony and thinks both players have an excellent chance at success...

As twins, Allie and Liz seem to know what the other is thinking even before they speak. That was apparent during a conversation with Greg following the ceremony...

The Day twins and Coach Tipton are looking forward to a fun upcoming season for St. Anthony.
