WSS, Cumberland Nab Softball Victories

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg High School blanked Moweaqua Central A&M, 10-0 in softball competition Tuesday.

 

The Hatchets didn't score until the fourth when they took a 4-0 lead. WSS then had a six-run sixth.

Windsor/Stew-Stras had five hits led by Reynolds with two singles and Roney with a double. Roney picked up the pitching win on a three-hitter with two walks and nine strikeouts.

At Moweaqua

At Shelbyville

Cumberland captured an 11-1 win over Shelbyville Tuesday in five innings via the 10-run rule.

The two teams were tied at 1-1 after the first inning. The Pirates then took a 3-1 lead in the second and tacked on four in the third. They finished out with single runs in the fourth and fifth.

Hendrix hit a home run and had two RBI for the Pirates while Maynard and Mitchell had a single and double each. Mitchell finished with two RBI.

Dunaway threw a two-hitter with no walks and 11 strikeouts.

At Shelbyville

At Flora

Flora came calling and handed Brownstown/St. Elmo a 10-3 loss Tuesday.

The Wolves led 3-0 until the fourth then tacked on four more runs. Flora had 10 hits led by Darrough with a single, triple and two RBI, Wilson with a single and double and Lusk with a double and an RBI.

Brownstown/St. Elmo had three hits led by Oberlink with a solo home run.

This game went scoreless until the fifth when Marshall tallied two runs and tacked on a final run in the sixth for a 3-0 win over Dieterich Tuesday.

Marshall had 11 hits in the contest while Dieterich finished with two hits and two errors.
