Effingham Junior High School traveled to Casey-Westfield and fell to the homestanders, 3-1 in softball action Thursday.

The Mustangs took a 1-0 lead in the second inning but Casey-Westfield came back with three runs in the third and that was the game.

Both teams had four hits. Effingham had singles by Gabbi Kreke, Abby Cunningham, Courtney Beck and Aila Woomer.

At Pana

Pana stepped out to a 2-1 first inning lead on Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City and went on for an 18-2 victory Thursday.

Pana had an 11-run third. Anderson threw a no-hitter for Pana plus CHBC had 11 errors.

Ramsey scored runs in all five innings in downing Altamont 20-5 Thursday.

Ramsey had 12 hits and was aided by 11 Atlamont errors.

Tedrick led Altamont with a single, triple and an RBI and S. Klein with two singles.

Altamont drops to 3-8 on the season.

 At Teutopolis

Teutopolis trailed Vandalia 1-0 until the fourth inning then broke loose with three runs to lead 3-1 going into the sixth. Vandalia tied in the top of the sixth but the Shoes scored two in the bottom of the frame for a 5-3 victory.

Emily Konkel had two singles while Estella Mette had two singles and three RBI. Courtney Gibson had a home run and two RBI.

Konkel picked up the pitching win going 6.3 innings, allowing three runs on three hits, seven walks and six strikeouts.

At Teutopolis

South Central broke a 1-1 tie with a two-run second and went on to beat Patoka, 7-3 in action Thursday.

Both teams had eight hits but Patoka finished with four errors.

Sierra Arnold had a single and double for the winners while Brooke Cowger had a single, double and an RBI. Brooklyn Garrett added two singles and two RBI.

South Central is 9-0 on the season.
