Effingham St. Anthony Junior High School trailed Mulberry Grove after the first inning but put some good innings together for an 18-3 victory in softball action Monday.

The Bullpups had a four-run second, a nine-run third and a four-run fourth.

L. Fearday had a single, home run and an RBI while M. Kibler had a single, home run and four RBI, H. Niebrugge a single, double and an RBI and S. Kibler a single, double and two RBI. L. Coffin chipped in with two singles.

S. Kibler picked up the pitching win on a one-hitter with three walks and five strikeouts.

At Effingham

Effingham stepped out to a 9-0 first inning lead and never looked back in a 16-1 win over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Monday.

Beck and Boone combined to throw a no-hitter. Beck went one inning with one strikeout. Boone went two innings, allowing one run, two walks and striking out four.

The Mustangs had nine hits led by Elena Niebrugge with a single, triple and three RBI. Seven other players had a single each.

Shelbyville Moulton came calling and downed Altamont 18-0.

Moulton took a 4-0 first inning lead then had a nine-run second and a five-run third.

Altamont had three hits led by Becker with a single and triple and S. Klein with a single. Altamont drops to 0-5.

At Kinmundy

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg edged out to a 2-0 first inning lead on South Central but the homestanders pulled out a 5-4 victory with two runs in the seventh.

Trailing 4-3 in the bottom of the seventh, leadoff batter Jaylyn Michael drew a walk. Taegan Webster sacrified her to second. With two outs, Brooklyn Garrett was intentionally walked. With runners at first and second, Hailey Shuler hit a double to left field and the winning run scored.

Webster was the winning pitcher on a three-hitter with four walks and 12 strikeouts.

H. Shuler finished with a single, two doubles and two RBI. South Central improved to 4-0 on the season.
