Effingham St. Anthony captured the Altamont Grade School Opening Day Softball Tournament Saturday.

The Bullpups were first followed by Jasper County second, Sullivan third and Altamont fourth.

The Bullpups opened with a 5-2 win over Jasper County. Jasper County held a 1-0 first inning lead. St. Anthony tied in the second and had a four-run third.

L. Fearday threw a no-hitter, allowing five walks and striking out seven.

Sullivan then downed Altamont 6-4. The score was knotted at 2-2 after two innings before Sullivan pushed ahead with a three-run third. Sullivan had three hits while Altamont had five.

Cripe had two singles and two RBI for Altamont.

St. Anthony then pounded Altamont 21-1, scoring 16 runs in the first inning.

C. Rios threw a one-hitter with one walk and four strikeouts.

C. Rios had a double and drove in three runs while K. Kabbes had a double and two RBI and A. Faber two singles and an RBI.

Jasper County then defeated Sullivan, 9-6.

Jasper County won over Altamont, 14-5. Jasper County edged out to a 2-1 first inning lead then had six-run innings in the second and third.

Jasper County had only three hits, singles by Miller, Barthelemy and Zumbahlen.

Altamont was led by Fulk and Hassebrock with two singles each.

St. Anthony blanked Sullivan 13-0. Kibler threw a one-hitter with three walks and four strikeouts.

The Bullpups were led in hitting by H. Niebrugge with a single, triple and three RBI, A. Faber with a double and two RBI and Kibler with two singles and an RBI.

At Cowden

The Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Round Robin Softball Tournament took place Saturday.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg claimed first place while Mulberry Grove was second, CHBC third and St. Elmo/Brownstown fourth.

Mulberry Grove opened with a 12-2 victory over CHBC. CHBC actually held a 2-1 first inning lead but Mulberry Grove then tallied six in the second and five in the third.

CHBC had three hits, singles by Gracie Heckert, Mady Wojcik and Katlyn Arnett.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg then jumped out to a 12-0 first inning lead against St. Elmo/Brownstown and tallied a 16-4 win.

In the third game, Mulberry Grove won over St. Elmo/Brownstown 10-5.

Windsor/Stew-Stras blanked CHBC 17-0 with a 13-run first inning. Wernsing threw a no-hitter for WSS.

In the fifth contest, Windsor/Stew-Stras downed Mulberry Grove 10-0.

In a game Friday, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City beat Dieterich 16-2 in four innings. Dieterich held a 2-1 first inning lead before CHBC tallied eight in the second and never looked back.

CHBC had 10 hits led by Macee Rodman with two singles, a double and two RBI.

The final contest went to CHBC over St. Elmo/Brownstown, 10-9.

CHBC took a 6-2 opening inning lead and led 7-6 after two. The score was tied at 9-9 in the third before CHBC scored the winning run in the fourth.

Miller, Rodman and Wojcik combined to throw a no-hitter. CHBC had five hits led by Heckert with two singles.

Teutopolis Round Robin

Teutopolis captured its own round robin softball tournament Saturday.

The Wooden Shoes pounded Dieterich 16-1. T-town took an 8-0 first inning lead and never looked back. Kennedy Wilkins went two-for-three with two singles while Courtney GIbson had a double.

In the second game, T-town downed Lawrenceville, 11-3. T-town banged out a whopping 15 hits in the contest led by Katie Kremer with a single and two doubles, Emily Konkel with a double, Erin Althoff with a double and Estella Mette with three singles.
