Effingham Junior High School downed Teutopolis in girls softball action Thursday, 11-4.

The Mustangs stepped out to a 2-1 opening inning lead then talled three in the second and one in the third. T-town pulled within 6-4 in the fourth but Effingham scored another run in the fifth and four more in the sixth.

Effingham had nine hits led by A. Cunningham with a single, double and two RBI, C. Beck with two singles and an RBI and L. Waymoth with two singles and two RBI. G. Kreke had a single and finished with three RBI.

T-town was led by E. Konkel with a double and an RBI.

C. Beck threw a three-hitter with one walk and eight strikeouts.

At Okaw Valley

Okaw Valley pounded home 16 runs for a 16-1 victory over Altamont in action Thursday.

Okaw Valley stepped out to an 11-1 first inning lead and never looked back.

Becker had the lone hit for Altamont with a single. Tedrick had an RBI.

Altamont will play host to its Opening Day Tournament Saturday with St. Anthony, Jasper County and Sullivan.

At Webster Field

South Central blanked Altamont Lutheran 13-0 in five innings Thursday.

South Central took a 2-0 first inning lead and never looked back. The winners had eight hits led by Taegan Webster with a single and double, Brooklyn Garrett three singles and three RBI and Jaylyn Michel with two singles. South Central was aided by 10 walks.

Webster threw the one-hitter with no walks and 11 strikeouts. She faced only 16 batters in five innings and gave up a lead-off single in the top of the fifth to break up the perfect game.

South Central is now 3-0 on the season.
