J&R Collision Claims Girls Prep Tourney Title

J&R Collision captured the championship of the Girls Prep Softball League Tournament at Evergreen Hollow Park Thursday.

In the opening contest of the evening, J&R Collision downed Joe's Pizza & Pasta, 17-13. The two teams were tied at 6-6 in the first inning, 12-12 in the second and 13-13 in the third. J&R then tallied four runs for the victory in the fourth.

J&R Collision had only three hits, singles by Mary Scheidemantel, Jerzi Bierman and Liv Hoene.

Joe's was led by Ava Walton with a double and Bailey Crain with two singles and an RBI.

In the second game, Fonner Oral Surgery pounded Crossroads Bank, 18-4.

Crossroads held a 2-1 lead in the top of the second but Fonner came back with six-run innings in the second and third and five in the fourth.

Alyssa Martin and Sierra Traxler had a single, double and an RBI each for the winners while Kallie Kabbes added two singles and an RBI.

Averie Wolfe threw a one-hitter. Teri  Conder had the lone hit for Crossroads, a single and an RBI.

Fonner Oral Surgery and J&R Collision met for the championship with J&R winning, 11-10.

J&R took a 5-4 opening inning lead but Fonner tied in the second. Fonner regained the lead in the top of the third but J&R held an 8-7 lead going into the fourth. Once again, Fonner regained the lead with two runs but J&R came back in the bottom of the frame to win the game.

Kember Bryant had a double and Alexia Jones a double and an RBI for the winners. Mary Scheidemantel added two singles.

Tori Fuesting led Fonner with two singles and an RBI.
