Dieterich Bank Wins Girls Minor Softball Tourney

Dieterich Bank captured the championship of the Girls Minor Softball League Tournament Monday at Evergreen Hollow Park.

In opening semifinal games, Roepke Overhead Doors downed Chesnut Family Music, 6-2. Roepke edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead then had a four-run third.

Roepke had 12 hits in the contest led by Gianna Frisbie with a single, double and an RBI and Nora Jansen with two singles and two RBI.

Tinsley Sears led Chesnut with two doubles while Layla McBride had a double and two RBI.

In the second game, Dieterich Bank downed Bahrns Equipment, 8-1. Dieterich tallied four runs in the second inning.

The winners had 13 hits led by Reese Hoene and Lydia Conder with a single, double and an RBI each. Claire Kinkelaar, Emma Knaus and Ashland Bell had two singles each. Kinkelaar and Bell had two RBI each.

Brylee Wildbur, Allison Kroenlein, Elizabeth Grunloh and Riley Rodewald had a single each for Bahrns. Rodewald added an RBI.

That moved Roepke Overhead Doors and Dieterich Bank into the championship game.

Dieterich took a 2-1 first inning lead but the score was knotted at 2-2 in the second while Roepke took a 5-3 lead in the third and led 7-3 in the fourth. Dieterich Bank then came back in the bottom of the fourth to tally five runs and pull out an 8-7 victory.

Dieterich had 13 hits led by Emma Knaus with a double, triple and an RBI while Maci Lewis had a single, double and an RBI. Aubrey Poe had a double while Lily Hardiek and Claire Kinkelaar had two singles each. Hardiek added an RBI.

Roepke was led by Avery Henning, Gianna Frisbie and Nora Cekander with two singles each. Cekander added an RBI.
