Hatchets Reach Super-Sectional; C-W Wins 2A Sectional

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg captured the championship of the Class 1A Effingham St. Anthony 1A Softball Sectional Saturday.

The Hatchets defeated the Cumberland Pirates 5-0. The two teams went scoreless through the first three innings before the Hatchets scored a run in the third then another in the fourth and finished out with three in the sixth.

Calla Roney was the winning pitcher, going all seven innings,a llwoing four hits, no walks and striking out 12. Roney also had ad obule in the contest.

Mackenzee Reynolds had a single, home run and an  RBI. Mackenzi Tabbert and Madison Everett had an RBI each. Carson Cole had two singles and an RBI.

Windsor/Stew-Stras will play Hardin Calhoun Monday at 11 a.m. at the super-sectional at the University of Illinois at Springfield.

Also, Casey-Westfield won the 2A Sectional at Casey, defeating Tuscola 9-2.
