EHS Nabs Softball Win over Sacred Heart-Griffin

SPRINGFIELD -- Effingham High School blanked Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin, 7-0 in Friday softball action.

The Hearts stepped out to a 4-0 first inning lead then tacked on a single run in the sixth and two in the seventh.

EHS had 11 hits led by Allie Armstrong with a double, home run and five RBI, Jaidi Davis with three singles and an RBI and Taylor Armstrong with two singles and an RBI.

A. Armstrong was the winning pitcher on a five-hitter with no walks and two strikeouts.

The Hearts ended regular season play and will now head to the Class 3A Charleston Regional Tuesday where they will face Taylorville at 6:30 p.m. The opening game will feature Charleston against either Decatur Eisenhower or Decatur MacArthur at 4:30 p.m.
