ALTAMONT -- Altamont High School easily handed Dieterich in softball action Tuesday, 11-1 in five innings.

The Indians edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead then tacked on two more in the second and eight in the fourth. Dieterich's lone run came in the fourth.

Mary Guse had three singles and two RBi while Caitlyn White added two singles and an RBI and Tinley Mette two singles and three RBI. Shelbi Stone contributed a double.

The Indians improve to 5-2 in the National Trail Conference, 8-17 overall.

Dieterich was led by Robards with a double.

At Altamont

At Toledo

Cumberland blanked Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg, 3-0 Tuesday.

Both teams had five hits. The Pirates tallied a run in the third then scored two more in the sixth.

Liberty Dunaway was the winning pitcher on a five-hitter with no walks and five strikeouts.

At Okaw Valley

Neoga was slow to start but picked up speed and outlasted Okaw Valley 18-14.

Okaw Valley held a 3-0 lead after three innings and led 6-5 after four. Neoga tied in the top of the fifth and led 11-8 after six. The Indians tallied seven in the top of the seventh.

The Indians had 17 hits in the contest. Andrea Estay had two singles, a triple and five RBI. Makenzie Saunders added two doubles and three RBI. R. Sheehan had a single, two doubles and an RBI.

At Okaw Valley

Newton handed Olney a 9-4 loss. Both teams had the same amount of hits as runs.

Newton led 5-4 after six then had a four-run seventh. Earnest and Meinhart had two singles each for the Eagles. Smith picked up the pitching win, going three innings, allowing four hits, three walks and striking out three.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City fell to Mulberry Grove, 13-3 in six innings.

The Bobcats had nine hits in the contest led by Sydney Dunaway with a single, double and an RBI. Madison Cherry had three singles and two RBI.

MTC Tournament

North Clay/Clay City advanced in the Midland Trail Conference Tournament Tuesday.

North Clay/Clay City edged Webber Township (Bluford), 10-9. In other games, Waltonville-Sesser-Valier won over Grayville 5-1, Woodlawn blanked Odin 18-0 and Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran beat Cisne 8-5.

Today's games feature Waltonville-Sesser-Valier against North Clay/Clay City at 4 p.m. followed by Woodlawn against Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran at 6 p.m. The finals are scheduled for Thursday.
