ST. ELMO -- Effingham St. Anthony had hot bats Tuesday in downing St. Elmo/Brownstown 16-4 in five softball innings.

The Bulldogs banged out 14 hits in the contest. Liz Day had two singles, a double and three RBI while Jessica Coffin added a single, triple and four RBI. Allie Day had a single, double and two RBI and Katie Kabbes a triple and an RBI. Shea Kinkelaar finished with two singles and an RBI.

Coffin was the winning pitcher on a nine-hitter with two walks and seven strikeouts.

St. Elmo/Brownstown was led by Katlyn Maxey with two singles, a double and three RBI, Makenzie Parkison with two singles and an RBI and Marlee Nolen with a triple.

SEB played a second game and fell to Shelbyville 12-2. The  Rams took a 4-0 second inning lead and ended the game in the fifth.

SEB had five hits led by Maxey with a double, triple and an RBI and Avyree Scholes with two singles.

At Altamont

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg picked up a 13-1 National Trail Conference victory over Altamont Tuesday.

The Hatchets broke a 1-1 opening inning tie with a three-run third and never looked back.

Calla Roney went three-for-four with two singles, a double and three RBI for the Hatchets. Ava Bennett added a single and double while Mackenzie Reynolds had two singles and four RBI. Mackenzi Tabbert had two singles while Everett had a double.

Altamont was led by Katie Grimsley with two singles and Ashley Goeckner with a double.

At Teutopolis

Despite being outhit, Teutopolis came through with a 5-1 victory over Tuscola Tuesday.

Tuscola took a 1-0 lead in the top of the sixth. The Wooden Shoes came back with five in the bottom of the frame for the win.

T-town had five hits led by Alli Brumleve and Emma Beckman with a double and an RBI each.

Brumleve threw a six-hitter with no walks and seven strikeouts. The Shoes improve to 6-4.

At Teutopolis

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City took a 1-0 first inning lead but that's the only run the Bobcats scored as South Central picked up the 6-1 victory Tuesday.

The Cougars had a four-run third then scored single runs in the fifth and sixth innings.

Sydnee Garrett had a single, double and two RBI while Angelica Rivera and Lexie Reid had a double and two RBI each for the winners who improve to 3-3 in the National Trail Conference, 5-3 overall.

CHBC was led by Mykaela Dye with a double.

At Beecher City

Newton captured a 6-0 win over Red Hill (Bridgeport) in action Tuesday.

The Eagles didn't score until the fourth inning when they brought home one run then tallied one in the fifth and four in the sixth.

Woods had three singles for the winners while Earnest, Smith and Grunloh had a double each. Earnest added an RBI.

Smith was the winning pitcher on a two-hitter with one walk and five strikeouts.
