CHAMPAIGN -- Effingham High School took a 2-0 first inning lead and went on to end the softball contest in the fifth via the 10-run rule over Champaign Central, 16-0 Friday.
The Hearts' Jaidi Davis threw a one-hitter with one walk and four strikeouts.
EHS had 16 hits led by Davis with a single, two doubles and three RBI, McKenzie Wittenberg with a single, two doubles and two RBI, Morgan Krouse with three singles and an RBI, Lauryn Douthit with two doubles and five RBI and Chloe Funneman with a double and two RBI.

At St. Anthony
Effingham St. Anthony and Robinson were tied at 3-3 after two innings and St. Anthony moved ahead 4-3 in the bottom of the third.
However, the Maroons had a five-run fourth and led 10-8 in the fifth. Robinson tallied two more in the sixth and three in the seventh.
St. Anthony had 15 hits led by Liz Day with two singles, a home run and an RBI while Jessica Coffin had three singles, Shea Kinkelaar witha double and Karlee Roepke with two singles.

Teutopolis took the early lead and never looked back in a 7-1 victory over Olney Friday.
The Wooden Shoes had seven hits in the contest led by Karsyn Mette with a single, triple and two RBI, Alli Brumleve with two singles and an RBI and Lauren Hemmen with two singles and two RBI.
Brumleve was the winning pitcher, going all seven innings, allowing two hits, two walks and striking out five.

Newton blanked Altamont 10-0 in five innings Friday.
The Eagles held a 1-0 lead in the second inning then added on three in the third, four in the fourth and two in the fifth.
Newton's Hemrich threw a no-hitter. The Eagles had 10 hits led by Frohning with two singles and an RBI, Earnest with two singles and an RBI and Hemrich with two singles.
Altamont dropped to 4-5 on the season.

Oblong handed Cumberland a 7-4 loss in action Friday.
The two teams were tied at 1-1 after two innings. Oblong then took a 5-2 lead ni the third. Cumberland pulled back within 5-3 in the fifth. Oblong then scored two more in the sixth.
Cumberland was led in hitting by Micaela Bradley with a solo home run, Liberty Dunaway with a single, triple and an RBI and Destiny Williams with three singles and an RBI.
