Bobcats, Cougars, Indians Claim Softball Wins

DIETERICH -- Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City came from behind to edge Dieterich in high school softball action Friday, 8-6.

The Maroons took a 3-2 lead in the third inning. CHBC moved ahead in the top of the fourth but Dieterich came back to lead 5-4. Dieterich held a 6-5 lead going into the sixth but here came the Bobcats with two runs in the sixth and one in the seventh for the victory.

Madison Cherry had a single, triple and two RBI for the winners while Lauren Wojcik had a double and two RBI.

Dieterich was led by Vahling with a home run and two RBI and Bierman with a double.

At Dieterich

At Bluford

South Central stepped out to a 9-0 opening inning lead and never looked back, ending the game 12-0 via the 10-run rule Friday over Webber Township (Bluford).

The Cougars had 13 hits in the contest led by Lexie Reid with three singles and two RBI, Sydnee Garrett with two singles and three RBI, Katlyn Hilmes with two singles and two RBI and Serina Lee with two singles.

The game was the season-opener for South Central.

Neoga played host to Tri-County and pounded the visitors, 21-5.

Neoga was led in hitting by Elizabeth Titus with a single, home run and two RBI, Molly Sheehan with 2 singles and three RBI; Makenzie Saunders with a double and two RBI, Jessica Atwell with a single and triple; Audrey Ramert with a double and two RBI and Andrea Estay with a double, triple and four RBI, Taylor Lee added a double and two RBI and Jaclyn Atwell a double and four RBI.

Jessica Atwell picked up the win, going all five innings, allowing six hits, seven walks and striking out four.

At Neoga

Teutopolis ran into a tough squad as Mount Zion defeated the Wooden Shoes, 11-1 in six innings Friday.

The Braves had a two-run first and scored 10 runs over the next four innings and tacked on a final run in the sixth.

Mount Zion outhit T-town, 11-4. The Shoes also committed five errors.

T-town was led in hitting by Brumleve with a single and double.

Despite outhitting Casey-Westfield 9-5, Cumberland fell to the Warriors, 4-2 in Friday action in extra innings.

Casey-Westifled held a 1-0 lead in the third and a 2-0 lead in the top of the fifth. Cumberland tied in the bottom of the frame. The game went into extra innings and the Warriors pulled out the victory with two in the eighth.

Allyson Maynard led the Pirates with two singles and a double while Micaela Bradley had a single, double and two RBI.

At Toledo
