Effingham St. Anthony Junior High School split victories in softball action Saturday.

The Bullpups downed Paris Mayo 8-1, taking a 2-0 first inning lead. Fearday hit a solo home run for the Bullpups while Karolewicz had a single and two RBI.

Rios went all seven innings, allowing three hits, four walks and striking out two.

In the second game, Paris Crestwood edged the Bullpups, 3-2. Crestwood tallied all three runs in the second. St. Anthony made a comeback with two runs in the bottom of the seventh only to fall short.

St. Anthony had three hits led by Guy with a double. Fearday saw a good pitching performance go by the wayside. Fearday threw a one-hitter with two walks and six strikeouts.

At Altamont

Altamont Lutheran played host to a tournament Saturday.

Altamont Grade School fell to Mulberry Grove 24-2 in four innings. Becker had two singles for Altamont.

In the second contest for Altamont, Sandoval was a 16-5 winner taking an 11-0 first inning lead. Becker and Tedrick had a single each for Altamont which drops to 0-10.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City fell in a game against Altamont Lutheran 14-0 in five innings. Kylie Doty and Mady Wojcik had a single each for CHBC.

Leading Altamont Lutheran were Nelson with a single, double, home run, 1 RBI and McManaway with a single, triple and two  RBI. McManaway was the winning pitcher on a two-hitter.

In the second game for CHBC, the team fell to Sandoval 13-2. CHBC had four hits, all singles by Doty, Allyana Kaiser, Wojcik and Gracie Heckert.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis hosted Sullivan and Taylorville in a round robin tournament Saturday.

Teutopolis opened against Sullivan and took a 10-2 victory.

In the first inning, T-town's Hemmen had a line drive up the middle. Abigail Wortman drew a walk. On a passed ball, the runners advanced to second and third. Emily Konkel hit a triple to score both runners. Daischa Piedra and Tia Probst reached base. Jaden Deters hit a line drive up the middle scoring both runners for a 4-0 lead. Courtney Gibson had an RBI base hit and the Shoes led 6-0.

In the second, Sullivan's fourth inning had a line drive up the middle that Isabelle Hemmen dove for, knocked down and threw to first for the out. The Shoes scored three more runs in their bottom of the inning as the first two drew walks followed by D. Piedra and Probst with back-to-back singles.

The game ended in the fifth due to the time limit with a 10-2 T-town win.

Sullivan defeated Taylorville in the second contest 4-1.

In the game against Taylorville, T-town's Emily Konkel had nine strikeouts and saw 14 batters in four innings.

In the third inning, T-town scored eight runs as Konkel led off with a triple and PIedra followed with a triple. Probst had another base hit followed by a triple by Hardiek. Lexi Will and Jaden Deters followed with base hits. Hemmen then had a base hit and Katie Kremer drew a walk. Konkel and Piedra hit their second triples of the inning.

T-town scored three more in the fourth for the 17-0 victory.

D. Piedra went five for six on the day with two singles, a double and two triples. Tia Probst had three singles, Konkel a single, and three triples. Hemmen had two singles and a triple.

 

At Cowden

In a Friday contest, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City defeated Altamont 15-4. CHBC took a 5-0 first inning lead.

Macy Wojcik, had a double and three RBI while Gracie Heckert had a double. Tatyana Duckwitz threw a three-hitter for the win.
