Effingham St. Anthony won the junior high softball Altamont Opening Day Tournament Saturday going 3-0 followed by Jasper County 2-1, Sullivan 1-2 and Altamont 0-3.

St. Anthony defeated Jasper County 4-2. Jasper County held a 2-1 first inning lead but St. Anthony came back with two in the third and one in the fourth.

The Bullpups had three hits, all singles by Rios, Kabbes and Guy.

Jasper County had two hits, led by Kessler and White with a single each.

In the second contest, Sullivan trounced Altamont 22-0.

The Bullpups then defeated Altamont 10-0 scoring four in the first and six in the second. Rios threw a no-hitter with one walk and three stirkeouts in three innings.

St. Anthony had one hit, a single by Niebrugge.

Jasper County defeated Sullivan 8-6 and then won over Altamont 12-0.

In the final game, St. Anthony beat Sullivan 8-4. The Bullpups stepped out to a 3-0 first inning lead and never looked back.

Karolewicz had a double, triple and two RBI while Kabbes had a single and double.

CHBC Tournament

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg claimed first place in the Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Tournament followed by Mulberry Grove, CHBC and St. Elmo/Brownstown.

Mulberry Grove handed CHBC a 10-1 defeat in the opening contest. CHBC had only one hit, a double by Jaiden Robertson.

In the second contest, Windsor/Stew-Stras downed St. Elmo/Brownstown 11-0. Mulberry Grove then defeated St.Elmo/Brownstown 10-0.

Windsor/Stew-Stras downed CHBC 14-2. Windsor/Stew-Stras jumped out to a 12-0 first inning lead.

S. Vonderheide threw a three-hitter for the winners. WSS had seven hits led by Bean with two triples and three RBI and S. Vonderheide with a single, double and an RBI.

Tatyana Duckwitz had a single, triple and an RBI for CHBC.

Windsor/Stew-Stras then downed Mulberry Grove 11-1.

In the final contest, CHBC beat St. Elmo/Brownstown 14-2. CHBC edged out to a 3-2 opening inning lead then had a five-run second and a six-run third.

CHBC's Tatyana Duckwitz threw a no-hitter. She also led offensively with a single, triple, home run and seven RBI. Kylie Doty had two singles.

Teutopolis Round Robin

Teutopolis hosted a three-team round robin Saturday.

Teutopolis won the opening game over Lawrenceville 3-1.

Emily Konkel threw a complete game of five innings, allowing three hits, four walks and striking out eight.

Isabelle Hemmen was the lead-off hitter for the Shoes and singled and finished with three walks. Emily Konkel went three-for-four with two singles, a double and three RBI. Tia Probst went two-for-three with two RBI.

Red Hill (Bridgeport) downed Lawrenceville, winning by the 10-run rule after five innings.

In the final contest, T-town tallied a 3-1 win over Red Hill. Red Hill had beaten T-town in the first game of the regional last year 11-1 after five innings.

This time around, Tia Probst was the starting pitcher with six strikeouts. Probst aided her own cause in the third inning. With two on, Probst hit a line drive up the middle to score both runners and give T-town a 2-0 lead.

In the fourth Red Hill pulled within 2-1. Then in the top of the fifth, Hemmen led off with a triple and Konkel followed with a long fly ball to score Hemmen. T-town led 3-1 after the fifth and that's where the scoring ended.
