Effingham Junior High School nabbed a victory over Paris Crestwood in junior high softball action Tuesday, 11-4.

The Mustangs edged out to a 1-0 second inning lead then added on three in the third, two in the fourth and five in the fifth to end the game via the 10-run rule.

Beck threw a four-hitter with no walks and four strikeouts. She also aided the offensive cause with a single and double. Althoff had two singles and two RBI while Dunston had two singles and an RBI and Bushur added two singles. Budde chipped in with a triple and drove in three runs.

In a Monday game, Effingham was a 7-1 winner over Mount Zion. The Mustangs took a 3-0 first inning lead and never looked back.

Dunston had three singles while Bushur had two singles and two RBI. Duncan added a double.

Beck picked up the pitching win on a two-hitter with two walks and eight strikeouts.

At Cowden

Teutopolis came calling and tallied a 14-0 win over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Tuesday.

T-town's Emily Konkel started on the mound with 12 strikeouts and stayed ahead of the count all game. She also went two for four at bat with one RBI. Tia Probst had two sacrifice bunts and reached first each time and walked for her last time at the plate.

Dascha Piedra had a single, double and two RBI while Izzy Hardiek had three singles and two RBI. Abigail Wortman drew two walks and had a bunt for a hit.

CHBC's two hits were singles by Mady Wojcik.

At Casey

Casey-Westfield played host to Altamont and blanked the visitors 25-0 in three innings.

Casey-Westfield had a seven-run first and tallied 18 in the second inning.

Cutright threw a no-hitter for the winners.

Altamont will be back in action Thursday against Okaw Valley and will host its opening day tournament Saturday with St. Anthony, Jasper County and Sullivan.
