Several Area Players Named To Decatur All-Area Softball Teams

Several area players earned First and Second Team honors along with Honorable Mention on the Decatur Herald & Review All-Area Softball Teams.

Named to the first team were two players from Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg. Named as a pitcher was sophomore Megan Schlechte. Schlechte posted a 12-1 record with a 1.17 ERA. She also aided the team offensively with a .370 batting average, 28 RBI and 48 runs.

Teammate Mackenzie Tabbert, also a sophomore, earned First Team honors. Tabbert was a catcher for the Hatchets. She had 27 stolen bases and led the team offensively with a .480 average, 46 RBI and 44 runs.

Other First Team players named were pitcher Morgan Day, a senior at Tuscola, Grace Harlin, a junior at Okaw Valley, Mattoon's Avery Jackson, a senior, ALAH's Mycaela Miller, a senior, Macey McElravey, a sophomore at Charleston and Isabelle Shelmadine, a junior at Tuscola.

Named on the Second Team were Effingham St. Anthony senior Jenna Woltman. Woltman was a pitcher and catcher. She had a .550 average with 55 hits.

Effingham High School's Carsyn  Fearday earned Second Team honors playing shortstop. The sophomore hit in the leadoff spot and had a .446 average with 21 stolen bases.

Newton's Kristin Hardiek earned Second Team honors as an outfielder. She had a perfect fielding percent and finished the season offensively with 30 hits and 27 RBI.

Another Windsor/Stew-Stras player earned honors on the Second Team and that was Calla Roney, a sophomore. Roney carried the Hatchets to the super-sectional with her pitching. In a sectional win over Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond. She allowed five hits and one run as the Hatchets won 9-1.

Other Second Team players were Claire Maulding, a freshman at Casey-Westfield, Nyah Laino, a sophomore at Oblong, Olivia Jordan, a senior at Central A&M, Paige Robinson from Okaw Valley, Grace McDowell, a sophomore at Mattoon, Natalie Bates at Tuscola and Maddie Holland at Shelbyville.

Honorable Mention for area players went to Aly Armstrong (Effingham junior), Jessica Atwell (Neoga junior), Carson Cole (Windsor/Stew-Stras sophomore), Lauryn Douthit (Effingham sophomore), Liberty Dunaway (Cumberland sophomore),  Abby Frohning (Newton junior), Madison Hendrix (Cumberland freshman), Katie Kabbes (St. Anthony sophomore), Tinley Mette (Altamont sophomore), Jazzmine Oakley (Cumberland freshman), Sadie Oakley (Cumberland sophomore), Makenzie Parkison (St. Elmo/Brownstown), Danae Sowers (Cumberland sophomore), Elizabeth Titus (Neoga freshman) and Audrey Winters (Altamont).
