Effingham High School handed Altamont a 15-4 loss in six innings of softball action Tuesday.

The Hearts edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead then had a three-run second and a six-run third. They finished out with three runs in the sixth.

Fearday led the way with four singles and three RBI for the Hearts while Schafer and Funneman had two singles and a double each. Douthit added two singles and an RBI.

Armstrong was the winning pitcher, going three innings, allowing no runs, one hit, one walk and striking out eight.

Altamont was led by Burns with two singles and an RBI.

Effingham St. Anthony ended this game in the fourth inning by a 16-0 count over Ramsey Tuesday.

The Bulldogs banged out 17 hits in the contest led by Woltman with two singles, a double and three RBI, Gibson three singles and an RBI, L. Day a single, double and an RBI, Kinkelaar a single, double and three RBI and Having two singles.

Coffin picked up the pitching win on a four-hitter with one walk and five strikeouts over three innings. Woltman came on in the final inning, allowing no hits, no walks and striking out one.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City took the early lead and never relinquished it in a 17-3 win over Dieterich.

CHBC had 16 hits in the contest with Taylor Oldham and Mykaela Dye with two singles and a double each. Dye added three RBI and Oldham had two. Bella Doty, Sarah Kirchhofer, Felicia Johnson and Lauren Wojcik had two singles each. Johnson drove in three runs while Wojcik had two RBI and Kirchhofer one.

Kirchhofer was the winning pitcher, going all seven innings,allowing two hits, one walk and striking out six.

Klay had a single and double for Dieterich.

Teutopolis improved to 6-8 on the season by blanking Marshall 14-0 in five innings.

The Wooden Shoes had a nine-run fourth. M. Hemmen had a single, home run and two RBI while R. Drees had a single and double. Mette and Niebrugge had a double each. Niebrugge drove in a run. Brumleve and Bueker had two singles and an RBI each.

Beckman went three innings for the win, allowing three hits, two walks and striking out eight.

The Wooden Shoes' junior varsity squad won 13-3.

St. Elmo/Brownstown edged Mulberry Grove 11-10. The score was tied at 7-7 after four innings. Mulberry Grove moved ahead 10-7 in the top of the fifth but SEB came back in the bottom of the frame to score four runs for the victory.

SEB had 17 hits led by Oberlink with a single, two doubles and three RBI, Moss with a single and two doubles, Parkison with four singles and Nolen with a double and two RBI.

Tuscola edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead then tallied five in the second and seven in the third for a 13-3 win over Neoga in five innings.

Mount Carmel picked up an 8-3 victory over Neoga Tuesday.

Mount Carmel broke a 2-2 opening inning tie with two runs in the third then tacked on two more in the fourth and sixth innings.

Hardiek had two singles for Newton while Smith had a double and two RBI.
