Effingham St. Anthony pounded St. Elmo/Brownstown 25-1 in softball action Tuesday. The game lasted three innings.

The Bullpups had a 14-run first inning. Karolewicz led in hitting with three singles and four RBI while Koester added two singles and a double. Kabbes had a triple.

Wright had the lone hit for SEB with a single.

Karolewicz pitched the one-hitter with one walk and five strikeouts.

At Effingham

Effingham edged Jasper County 9-8 with two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

The Mustangs led 2-0 in the second and 6-2 in the third. Jasper County came back with a run in the fourth, two in the fifth and moved ahead 8-7 in the top of the sixth. Effingham came back with two runs in the bottom of the frame.

EJHS had nine hits led by Hardiek with two singles, a double and two RBI and Hibbetts with two singles and an RBI.

Jasper County was led by Kinder with three singles, Kessler with two singles and two RBI and Zumbahlen with two singles and an RBI.

At Cowden

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City edged Patoka 5-4. Patoka held a 2-1 lead in the fourth but CHBC had four runs in the fifth. Patoka tallied two in the seventh only to fall short.

CHBC had two hits, a double by Haley Evans and two RBI and Madison Cherry with a single.

Altamont downed Mulberry Grove 9-4.

Altamont edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead then had a six-run second and scored single runs in the fourth and sixth innings.

Mette had a single and an RBI while Brummer had a single and two RBI as did Berg.

Altamont is now 4-11 on the season.

South Central edged Centralia 4-3 in action at Webster Family Park in Kinmundy.

Laney Webster, Sydnee Garrett and Brooklyn Garrett had a single each for the winners. S. Garrett threw a five-hitter with two walks and nine strikeouts.

South Central is now 11-2 on the season.
