PF 18U Paulson Softball Team Claims ASA State Title

The 18U Paulson squad celebrates its state championship.

The PF 18U Paulson softball team captured the State ASA "A" championship during the weekend.

In Thursday action, the Paulson squad fell to Illinois Force 3-1. That dropped them into the loser bracket where they fought their way back to reach the championship game.

In Friday play, the squad won over Midwest Menace 8-0 then downed BNGSA Pride 11-1.

Saturday play saw the Paulson squad beat Midwest Sting 9-1, Havoc 7-2 and Illinois Extreme 9-1.

Then in Sunday action, the squad beat Midland Magic 3-1 then won over Hitting Center 7-3 before taking on BNGSA Explosion in the championship game. Since Paulson was coming through the loser's bracket, the squad had to beat BNGSA twice.

In the opening game, Paulson won 7-2 forcing the second game where the team blanked the Explosion 9-0 for the ASA "A" state championship.

Area members of the team include St. Anthony High School senior-to-be Jenna Woltman and Teutopolis graduates, Allison Apke, Anni Borries and Kadi Borries. Also members of the team include Brigett Belt (Casey), Conner Cutright (Casey), Kaylea Chappelle (Carmi), Brenna Finck (Maroa), Kyleigh Decker (Casey), Bailey Martin (Forsyth), Mycaela Miller (Hammond) and Baylee Sparks (Oblong).
