The Effingham Flame 10U Black picked up another couple of softball wins Tuesday against Jasper County.

In game one, the Flame were 19-0 winners and in game two won 13-1.

Courtney Beck was the winning pitcher in the opener with Stacey Vonderheide coming in to finish the final two innings. The two combined to strike out 11 batters while only walking three and not allowing a hit.

"Not only did we throw well, we also hit the ball well, earning 21 hits and drawing six walks," said Coach Tonn. "We had real good at bats. The kids went up wanting to hit and swinging early in the count and it really helped seeing good pitches."

In the second game, the Flame outscored Jasper County 13-1. Grace Nelson was the winning pticher with Madison Mapes throwing the final inning. They allowed only one hit and struck out six.

"Overall a good night for the girls," said Coach Tonn. "We were able to work on a lot of little things we wanted to. We play this weekend in Kankakee in an NSA Qualifier and needed to play and work on a few things. The girls worked really hard this winter and early on they have seen their hard work paying off."
