Three of the stars of the Teutopolis Lady Shoes softball team signed letters of intent Friday afternoon to play college softball.

Kadi and Anni Borries signed letters of intent after announcing months ago their plans to attend Illinois State University in Bloomington-Normal. Allison Apke had also long ago announced her choice for college, Bradley University in Peoria, but made it official on Friday.

Allison said Bradley sought her for her offense and will play first base and some outfield. Anni said ISU was seeking a catcher and that will be where they use her the most. Kadi said she will be a utility player and pitch if she's needed.

It's an interesting situation in that the three have played together, both in school and on the Premier softball traveling team and others all of their lives. Allison said it will be different when they see each other in the opposing dugout.

First things first, though, as a spring of high school softball awaits including a hoped-for return to the State Tournament where they played for the championship as sophomores. Kadi said the goal is to win the title as seniors.
