The T-Town Donnewald Budweiser men's fastpitch team captured third at the Illinois Open State Tournament over the weekend.

They lost the first night of the tournament to the Pinkneyville Falcons 5-4 and had to fight their way through the loser's bracket.

Budweiser won five games Saturday starting out winning against the Edwardsville 9ers 19-0. Next they beat Springfield Franny's 7-2. The third win of the day came against Sibley, Illinois by the score of 7-2. Budweiser then played a familiar opponent from T-Town. Budweiser topped T-Town's B&K Tree Service 7-3. Budweiser then beat Franny's for the second time, by the score of 13-6.

Sunday morning, Budweiser lost to the eventual champs, the Cerro Gordo Broncos 4-3.

Going into the tournament, Budweiser was given the No. 7 seed out of nine teams. They outscored their opponents 60-22 for the weekend.

Budweiser finishes the year with a 29-9 record and a second place finish in the T-T-own Memorial Tournament, first place at the Edwardsville McGaully Tournament, first place in the Gibson City Round Robin Tournament and third place at the ASA Open State Tournament.

The Budweiser softball team would like to thank Donnewald Budweiser for continuing the sponsorship of men's fastpitch softball.
