TEUTOPOLIS -- Teutopolis High  School pushed its softball record to 20-1 on the season by blanking Cumberland 8-0 Thursday.

The Wooden Shoes' Madison Cowman pitched a no-hitter with one walk and five strikeouts for the win. Anni Borries came on in the sixth to pitch two innings, allowing one hit, two walks and striking out three.

The Shoes had eight hits led by A. Borries with a single, double and two RBI. The lone hit for Cumberland was a single by Casey.

T-town celebrated Senior Night by honoring four seniors, Dakota Althoff, Patricia Campbell,  Madison Cowman and Julie Wente.

At Newton

Newton edged Casey-Westfield 8-7 in action Thursday.

Casey-Westfield held a 2-0 lead in the top of the second  then pushed that to a 6-0 lead in the top of the fifth. The Eagles came back with a six-run fifth to tie the score then took a 7-6 lead in the bottom of the sixth.

Casey-Westfield tallied the tying run in the top of the seventh. The game went into the eighth before Newton pulled out the 8-7 win.

Cohorst had a triple and drove in three runs for Newton. Frohning added a single and double while Kerner had a single, triple and two RBI. Newton is now 15-6.
