Effingham St. Anthony scored two runs in the first inning and that's all the scoring there was the rest of the way in a 2-0 softball win over Nokomis Tuesday.

The Bulldogs' Jenna Woltman pitched a two-hitter with four walks and four strikeouts. Woltman also banged out a home run and had two RBI. Hunter Niebrugge had two singles.

At Effingham

Effingham held a 7-0 first inning lead and downed Neoga 12-1 in five innings Tuesday.

The Hearts had eight hits in the contest led by Madison Weis with a two-run homer in the fourth and a two-run shot in the sixth. Morgan Wilson added two doubles and an RBI while Hope Collier hit a three-run shot in the first. Brittany Beals chipped in with a single, double and three RBI and Ashlyn Hanks added a double and three RBI.

Aly Amrstrong and Jayde Lake combined to pitch a one-hitter.

The Hearts are now 11-7 on the season.

Mattoon scored two quick runs in the first but that was the last scoring for the Green Wave as Teutopolis produced seven runs over four innings for the 7-2 victory.

T-town banged out 14 hits in the contest led by Kadi Borries with a single, three doubles and an RBI. Patricia Campbell had a single, double and an RBI while Danielle Repking had two singles and two RBI.

The Wooden Shoes are now 19-1 on the season and will host Cumberland Thursday.

Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick fell victim to Ramsey in Egyptian-Illini Conference action, 12-2 in five innings.

BCCH had only two hits, singles by Isabella Doty and Alicia Adams. The Eagles drop to 1-3 in the conference, 1-12 overall.

The winners had 11 hits led by Dulaney and Matanich with two singles and a double each and Anderson with a single, double and an RBI.

Dieterich was led by Hunzinger and Boerngen with a double each.

Cumberland edged Newton 3-1 in action Tuesday evening.

The Pirates held a 1-0 lead after three innings and tacked on two more in the fifth. Newton rallied in the bottom of the seventh only to fall short.

Katelyn Hardiek led Newton with two singles while Ariel Richards added a double.
