St. Anthony Loses In Softball, T-town, BCCH, SEB, Altamont Win

Effingham St. Anthony dropped a 9-0 loss in girls softball competition to Paris Tuesday evening.

The Tigers stepped out to a 5-0 first inning lead and held the Bulldogs scoreless. Paris had nine hits, all singles, and was aided by three Bulldog errors.

St. Anthony had six hits led by Woltman with a single and triple and Koester with two singles.

At Paris

At Teutopolis

The Wooden Shoes just continue to roll along. The latest victim was Greenville as the Shoes won 12-3.

T-town held a 6-2 lead after five innings then had a six-run sixth. Kadi Borries and Raegan Drees had a home run each. Borries finished with a single and four RBI. Apke added two singles, a double and three RBI while Campbell had two singles and an RBI, Anni Borries three singles and Wente a double and two RBI.

The Shoes are now 10-0 on the season. T-town also claimed the junior varsity game, 10-0.

Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick picked up a 7-4 win over Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran.

Christ Our Rock held a 3-0 first inning lead before BCCH came back to tie the score in the second then take a 7-3 lead in the fifth.

Sarah Kirchhofer led BCCH with two singles and two RBI. Five other players had a single each for the winners.

Kirchhofer picked up the pitching win on a seven-hitter with two strikeouts.

At St. Peter

St. Elmo/Brownstown handed South Central a 7-5 loss. SEB took the early lead and never relinquished it the rest of the way.

"This was the first game of our season that we were able to play with all our starters and at full strength," said SEB Coach Tom Fedrigon. "The girls responded very well, beating a good South Central team."

Krystyn Fitch had two singles while Tessa Philpot added a double and three RBI. Baylee Scholes had a single and two RBI.

The Cougars were led by Jordan Schaal with two singles and Kanady Grzegorek with a single and an RBI.

SEB is now 2-10 on the season and 1-1 in the National Trail Conference.

At St. Peter

Altamont pounded Vandalia 15-5 in six innings. The Indians held a 8-3 lead after four innings then tallied five in the fifth and two more in the sixth.

Kopplin had a single, double, home run and three RBI while Biggs had a home run and two RBI. Burns added two triples and two RBI and Stone two singles, a double and two RBI. Goeckner had a single, double and an RBI. The Indians are 1-3.

At Altamont

Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor blanked Pana 7-0. SS/Windsor took a 1-0 first inning lead then had two runs in the third, fifth and seventh innings.

Kendall Knop picked up the six-hit pitching win. She allowed one walk and struck out 12. Tabor had a single, double and triple while Knop added a triple and Everett a single and two RBI. Stew-Stras/Windsor is now 4-7 on the season.

Edwards County (Albion) trounced Clay City/North Clay (Louisville) 14-2.

Edwards County broke a 1-1 tie with a six-run second and never looked back. Landermilk pitched the four-hitter with one walk and eight strikeouts.
