Teutopolis High School stepped out to a 9-0 first inning lead and ended the game in the fifth, 18-0 over  Vandalia in softball competition Thursday.

The Wooden Shoes had 15 hits in the game led by Apke with a single and two doubles, Repking a single, double and three RBI and Brumleve with a single and double.

A. Borries picked up the pitching win on a one-hitter with six strikeouts through four innings. Drees came on in the final inning, allowing a hit, one walk and striking out two.

The Shoes are now 7-0 on the season.

At Nokomis

Nokomis held off a challenging St. Elmo/Brownstown, 9-4 Thursday.

SEB couldn't get the runs across when needed. Nokomis led 6-1 after three innings.

Stephanie Calhoun had a single and double and Kyrstyn Fitch two singles and an RBI and Baylee Scholes a double and an RBI for SEB.

"We played well tonight, just couldn't sustain a rally on the offensive end," said SEB Coach Tom Fedrigon. "Nokomis did their part in playing very solid, errorless defense."

The Eagles are now 1-7 on the season.
