TOLEDO -- Cumberland Junior High claimed an 8-4 win over Effingham in sofball action Saturday.

Cumberland took a 3-0 first inning lead and led 5-0 before the Mustangs tallied two runs in the third. Cumberland came back with three in the fourth.

Effingham had six hits led by Miranda Fox with two singles and a triple. Carsyn Fearday added a single, triple and two RBI.

In the seventh-grade game, Cumberland was an 11-2 winner.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis captured two wins in junior high softball play.

T-town stepped out to a 3-1 first inning lead on Taylorville and went on for an 11-1 in five innings. T-town had seven hits in the game led by M. Mette with a double and an RBI and O. Niemerg with two singles and two RBI.

A. Brumleve picked up the pitching win on a two-hitter with five strikeouts.

T-town downed Sullivan 12-8. Sullivan led 1-0 until the third when T-town broke loose with nine runs.

A. Niebrugge and S. Gebben had a single and a double each. Niebrugge had two RBI. K. Mette had two singles and three RBI.
