Altamont to Meet Stew-Stras/Windsor for NTC Tournament Championship

Altamont will play Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor for the championship of the National Trail Conference Softball Tournament.

Altamont blanked St. Anthony 9-0 and Stew-Stras/Windsor won over St. Elmo/Brownstown 10-1 in semifinal action Friday.

In consolation bracket semifinal action Friday, Neoga defeated South Central 11-1 and Dieterich beat Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick 8-2.  

That sets up the finals on Monday.  Dieterich will play at Neoga for the consolation championship at 4pm.  St. Anthony will play at St. Elmo for third place honors at 4:30pm.  Stew-Stras/Windsor will play at Altamont for the tournament championship at 4pm.

ALTAMONT 9, ST. ANTHONY 0

Altamont got out to an early lead, scoring twice in the first and three times in the second before adding three runs in the sixth inning.

Deidre Ledbetter tossed a three-hit shutout without a walk and fanned 10.  Jenna Woltman took the loss for the Lady Bulldogs, allowing six runs on five hits and two walks in 1-2/3 innings.  Makayla Walsh pitched 4-1/3 innings, allowing three runs, two earned, on four hits, walking two and striking out seven.

Ledbetter helped her own cause with a home run, scored twice and drove in two runs.  Also for Altamont, Lauren White had a four-for-four game including two triples, scored and drove in a run; Madison Ohnesorge reached base twice including a hit and scored twice; Josie Phillips singled, scored and drove in a run; Lauren Ohnesorge walked, scored and drove in a run; Brooke Burns singled, scored and drove in a run; Nikki Tharp drove in a run; Chandra Smith scored and drove in a run; and Audrey Winters singled.

For St. Anthony, Hunter Niebrugge tripled, and Jenna Woltman and Makayla Walsh each singled.

Altamont improved to 21-4 with the victory.

STEW-STRAS/WINDSOR 10, ST. ELMO/BROWNSTOWN 1

SS/W scored twice in the first inning, four times in the second and added a run in the third before scoring twice in the fifth and once in the sixth.  St. Elmo/Brownstown plated their only run in the fourth inning.

Becca Schlechte got the win for the Comets, allowing the run in seven innings of work, allowing four hits and striking out seven.  Schlechte is 7-1 on the spring.

Baylee Scholes took the loss, allowing the 10 runs on 12 hits, walking one and striking out three.

For SS/W at the plate: Knop--double and single, two RBI; Burton--three singles, RBI; Ferris--double and single, 2 RBI; Greuel--two singles

For SE/B at the plate: Oberlink--single, RBI; Fitch--single; D. Austin--single; T. Austin--double; Brown--walk, run scored; Scholes--walk

NEOGA 11, SOUTH CENTRAL 1

Neoga scored five times in the first inning and cruised from there, adding two runs in the third and four more runs in the fifth.  South Central scored a run in the bottom of the fifth, but Neoga stopped the rally there to win by the 10-run rule.

Neoga scored its 11 runs on 10 hits. South Central had five hits, including a home run and double by Sidney Wilkins.  Also for South Central: singles for Bailey Ritter, Jayla Conley and Kanady Grzegorek.  Grzegorek took the loss, allowing seven earned runs, walking two and hitting two batters.

Posten got the win for Neoga, allowing five hits and no walks and striking out two.

DIETERICH 8, BEECHER CITY/COWDEN-HERRICK 2

Dieterich scored twice in the first inning and then added three-run innings in the second and fourth innings to post the win.  BCCH scored in the fifth and seventh.

Sydney Higgs pitched the complete game victory, allowing two runs on four hits and five walks while striking out seven.  Kirby Herrmann took the loss, pitching two innings and giving up five runs, two earned, on four hits and two walks with one strikeout.  Kirchhofer pitched the rest of the contest, allowing three runs, one earned, on four hits and no walks while striking out three.
