Katie Lange Earns NJCAA Pitcher of Week Honor

Altamont High School graduate, Katie Lange, was named the NJCAA Division II Pitcher of the Week.

Lange competes for Lincoln Land College where she is a sophomore. The week's selections were based on performances in games from March 10-16.

In a win over over Southeastern Illinois March 11, Lange pitched five perfect innings as LLC won 10-0. Lange struck out eight and did not allow a hit or a walk.

In a contest March 15 at Iowa Central CC, Lange was the winning pitcher, going all seven innings allowing no runs, no walks and striking outthree as LLC won 5-0.

In another contest March at at Chesaparke CC, Lange scored a run.

Lange is a 2012 graduate of Altamont High School. She played on the varsity softball team all four years of her high school career and was chosen MVP two years. She was named MVP of the National Trail Conference her senior year and was a member of the All-Conference team all four years. She was selected for the Decatur Herald & Review All-Area team (senior), and received an honorable mention her junior year. Katie was selected third team All-State 1A in 2011 and second team in 2012. Katie was inducted into the Altamont High School Hall of Fame in 2012. She was a member of the Mattoon Pride NSA "A" World Series Champion team. 2013 (college) Katie was selected to the 2013 Region XXIV All-Region Team as a college freshman.

She is studying business and will continue her softball career at Georgia-Gwinett and eventually become an entrepreneur.
