Two Effingham players were selected for the Illinois High School Soccer Coaches Association Section No. 5 All-Sectoinal Team.

Phil Knight, a senior midfielder, was named to the All-Sectional Team for the Hearts while Michael Carie, a junior midfielder, gained honorable mention honors.

The Hearts will play host to a Class 2A Regional beginning today with top-seeded Charleston (10-8) taking on Salem (6-14-1) at 4 p.m. Wednesday, the Hearts (10-7-3) face Mattoon (11-8-2) at 4 p.m. The winners meet for the championship Saturday at 3 p.m. with the sectional champion advancing to the Troy Triad Sectional Tuesday, October 29.

This should be an interesting regional as all three teams have faced each other this season. Effingham has beaten Mattoon twice while Mattoon has beaten Charleston and Charleston has downed Effingham twice.
