On March 27, the U13 Knights team traveled to Charlston to play the hosts in a very chilly and sunny afternoon, for their season opener.

With everyone wearing hats and gloves and scarfs, the team was able to start a cold and muddy game.

It was a very much a back and forth game for the first 40 minutes," said Coach Eric Morales. "Everyone trying to get the feel back and knock the rust off of their legs."

With one minute left of the first half Jake Niebrugge took a rebound on a loose ball and cracked one from the center of the penalty box, connecting and putting the Knights up 1-0 going into halftime.

It the second half, the Knights finally got warm and peppered the goalie with shots through the half, as Gage Kinder was able to find the back of the net just three minutes into the half putting the Knights up 2-0. Tthen Gage Kinder was able to connect again on another goal about 15 minutes into the second half taking the score to 3-0.

The Knights ended up with 12 shots on goal to Charleston's two shots on goal.

"The Knights defense did fantastic keeping Charleston at a standstill," said Morales. "The Knights finish the game 3-0 for a successful season opener."

The Knights start the season 1-0 and travel to Edwardsville this weekend to participate in the Glen-Ed Shootout tournament along with the U11 Knights.
