The commissioner of the National Women's Soccer League is out of a job, and five league games were canceled this past weekend, as long-simmering accusations of abuse of players by coaches came to a boil.

One coach, Richie Burke of the Washington Spirits, has been fired and Commissioner Lisa Baird has resigned.

Star players including Megan Rapinoe and Meghan Klingenberg are voicing support for the players.
