T-town, Altamont Tie In Soccer Action, EHS Falls To Mattoon

Teutopolis and Altamont tied in high school soccer competition Tuesday, 1-1.

T-town's goal was scored by Evan Waldhoff in the first half.  Altamont's goal was by Bryce Suckow in the second half to tie the score.

Altamont had seven shots, three on goal and Connor Klitzing had one save. T-town had two shots, one on goal and two saves.

The Wooden Shoes' junior varsity was a 3-0 winner with two goals by Ethan Thoele and a goal by Tyler Peterson.

T-town is back in action Saturday at Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond with a varsity only contest starting at 10 a.m.

 

At Effingham

Mattoon blanked Effingham 8-0 in Tuesday soccer competition.

"The first half we held them to three goals and played a solid defensive game," said EHS Coach Weston Peno. "The second half we contnued to play our defensive game and found a few looks on goal but nothing stuck. We held Mattoon for the first 25 minutes of the second half. After that, Mattoon moved the ball well and were able to find the goal five more times.

"Brandon Duncan defended against two PK's successfully. He had a phenomenal game with saves in the double digits. Gerard Herrar had a few good looks and a really solid run toward the goal in the first half. All around we had some small victories in this game against Mattoon, a consistently tough opponent."
