T-town Falls To Mount Vernon; Olney Edges Altamont

Teutopolos High School dropped both a varsity and a junior varsity soccer match to Mount Vernon Saturday.

The Wooden Shoes fell in the varsity contest 3-0 and also lost the junior varsity match 3-0.

In a Monday contest, Mattoon claimed a 3-0 win over the Wooden Shoes. The Shoes' overall record is now 5-2 and they will play today at Altamont with a 6:30 p.m. start.

The T-town junior varsity beat Charleston, 2-0. Goals were scored by Paul Huber and Ethan Thoele. The JV squad will play after the varsity team today.

 

At Altamont

Olney came calling and edged Altamont, 4-3 in soccer action Saturday.

Altamont took the early lead scoring goal at 2:00 before Jack Lowry scored at 16:00. The Indians held a 2-1 lead after the first half.

In the second half, Olney tied at 2-2 at 12:00 and moved ahead 3-2 at 14:00. Lowry scored his second goal to knot the score at 3-3 at 35:00. Olney then won at 38:20.

Altamont had seven shots, three on goal. Olney had eight shots, six on goal. Altamont had two saves.
