Shoes Win St. Anthony/T-town Soccer Tournament

Teutopolis nabbed the championship of the St. Anthony/Teutopolis Invitational Soccer Tournament during the weekend.

The Wooden Shoes finished with a 4-0 record over three days. The Shoes defeated Greenville Tuesday, 3-0 before downing Altamont 2-0 Friday. The Shoes then blanked Pinckneyville 4-0 and won over Salem, 2-1 Saturday.

In Friday's action, T-town beat Altamont 2-0 with goals scored by Evan Waldhoff and Josh Habing. The Shoes had four shots, two on goal.

Al;tamont had four shots.

St. Anthony bounced Robinson, 6-1.

"Our team continues to jell together and finding a rhythm," said St. Anthony Coach Martin Reyes. "Our first goal came in the first two minutes of play when Adam Brandenburger passed the ball to Will Fearday for a nice shot. Ten minutes later, Adam scored a solo goal and 10 minutes after that, Kevin Gonoles also scored a solo goal after beating the defense. With 15 seconds in the first half, Will Fearday passed the ball wide to the right for Ivan Dong to score our fourth goal. Robinson scored in the first half after a defensive mistake.

"In the second half, a constant attack and teamwork allowed Will Fearday to get two more goals and get the first hat trick of his career."

In Saturday's games, the Shoes blanked Pinckenvyille, 4-0 with two goals scored by Waldhoff, and one each by Nolan Runde and Cooper Tegeler.

Against Salem, T-town's goals were by Josh Habing and Salem had an own goal.

St. Anthony lost to Mount Carmel 3-1 and Harrisburg 3-0.

"We held Mount Carmel scoreless in the first half," said Coach Reyes. "Roberto Campos scored our only goal from a free kick.

"In the second game, a lot of our players gave everything they had and I'm hoping to have them healthy and rested for our game against Efifngham on Tuesday."

Altamont downed Greenville 2-0. Noah Klimpel scored the opening goal in the first half at 15:10. Bryce Suckow tallied at 45:00 in the second half.

The Indians had 20 shots, six on goal.  Greenville had three shots, none on goal and four saves.

Altamont claimed a 3-2 victory over Pinckneyville. Suckow got the Indians started off in the right direction with a goal at 29:00 in the first half.

Pinckneyville then tied the score in the second half. Klimpel moved the Indians ahead 2-1 at 36:00. Pinckneyville came back to knot the score at 2-2 with 58:00. Klimpel then scored the winning goal at 59:10.

Altamont had 12 shots, three on goal. Pinckneyville had three shots, two on goal.

Following the Shoes were Newton 3-1, Altamont 3-1, Harrisburg 3-1, Mount Carmel 3-1, Salem 2-2, St. Anthony 1-3, Greenville 1-3, Robinson 0-4 and Pincknveyille 0-4.

At St. Anthony -- Altamont 2, Greenville 0; Mount Carmel 3, St. Anthony 1; Newton 2, Harrisburg 0; Mount Carmel 7, Robinson 0 and Harrisburg 3, St. Anthony 0.

At Teutopolis -- Newton 8, Robinson 2; Teutopoils 4, Pinckneyville 0; Salem 5, Greenville 1; Altamont 3, Pinckneyville 2 and Teutopolis 2, Salem 1.
