Teutopolis, Newton and Altamont won openers in the St Anthony/Teutopolis Soccer Tournament Tuesday.

The Shoes are back in action Thursday for day two of the tournament and will play  Altamont.

Newton tallied a 3-0 win over Effingham St. Anthony.

"The first half looked good," said St. Anthony Coach Martin Reyes. "We had many first time players that had to adopt quickly to the pace and physicality of high school varsity soccer.

"Newton scored a header goal from a corner. In the second half, Newton scored twice out of some of our mistakes. We need to work on communication and get the new players adopted to the pace of the game."

Defensive players of the game for the Bulldogs were Josh Blanchette and Catherine Jansen. Attacking players of the game were Adam Brandenburger and Will Fearday.

Altamont handed Robinson a 7-1 loss. Noah Klimpel scored two goals in the first half to get the Indians going.

Klimpel scored at 4:30 and again at 4:41. Maritn Cook then tallied on a assist by Jack Lowry at 4:54. Then it was reversed as Lowry scored on an assist by Cook at 5:10 making it 4-0 in the first half.
