CHARLESTON -- Effingham and Charleston finished in a 4-4 tie in high school soccer competition Tuesday.

"It was a really close game with a lot of good, consistent, aggressive play," said EHS Coach Weston Peno. "We had a lot of shots on goal and were looking to capitalize often. We controlled the ball well. Charleston was able to make some nice runs and get numbers up for scoring opportunities, finding many in the middle after creating a gap."

Four different players scored goals for the Hearts. Osvaldo Angel had a goal from the half line, about 50 yards out. Also scoring were Tucker Moeller, Armando Estrada and Xander Marler.

Brandon Duncan had 10 saves.

Altamont blanked Salem, 3-0 in soccer action Tuesday.

The Indians' Kenny Robbins scored first followed by a goal on a penalty kick from Noah Klimpel. The final goal was a shot by Isaac Crow on an assist by Tucker Short.

Altamont had 20 shots, 10 on goal and Brennyn Abendroth had nine saves.

Salem had 15 shots, nine on goal and seven saves.
