EHS Downs St. Anthony, Altamont Wins Big In Soccer

Effingham High School handed Effingham St. Anthony an 11-1 loss in soccer competition Wednesday.

The Hearts' Osvaldo Angel tallied four goals along with one shot on goal and two assists. Bryan Said Angel scored two goals, had six shots on goal and two assists. Victor Carillo also had two goals and had four shots on goal along with Armando Estrada with two goals, two shots on goal and an assist. Menphis Leasher finished out with a goal and had two shots on goal.

Jackson Doedtman had two shots on goal. Goalie Dylan Cunningham had two saves.

St. Anthony's goal was scored by Wade Lawrence.

 

At Olney

Altamont came on strong and handed Olney a 9-1 loss in Wednesday action.

The Indians' Noah Klimpel scored the opening two goals, both with an assist by Tucker Short. Klimpel scored at 33:38 and again at 31:08. Olney pulled within 2-1 with a goal at 27:02.

This time around it was Short who scored back-to-back goals. Short made it 3-1 at 25:00 and took it to 4-1 at 22:28 on an assist by Jack Miller. Miller then scored for Altamont on a penalty kick at 20:16. Jack Lowry tallied a goal at 10:16 to make it 6-1 in the opening half for Altamont.

In the second half, Short got the hat trick with a goal on a penalty kick at 32:02.

Isaac Crow scored at 29:10 and Klimpel got his hat trick with only four ticks left on the clock on an assist by Kolby Brewer making the final 9-1.

Altamont had 25 shots, 13 on goal. Brennyn Abendroth had three saves as goalkeeper.

Olney had seven shots, four on goal and four saves.

Altamont improved its record to 6-1 on the season.
