TAYLORVILLE -- Teutopolis High School blanked Taylorville in soccer competition Thursday, 6-0.

The Wooden Shoes' Derek Deters had a hat trick, scoring three goals. Ethan Thoele added two goals and Jack Poelker one.

The Wooden Shoes move to 2-2-1 on the season and are back in action hosting Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond Saturday at 11 a.m.

At Effingham

Effingham fell to Lincoln, 5-3 in Thursday competition.

Tucker Moeller, Osvaldo Angel and Bryan Angel all scored goals for the Hearts.

"Tucker took the lead on three guys to score a 1v1 goal," said EHS Coach Weston Peno. "Ozzie was able to score off of a nice through ball and get a breakaway for the goal. Bryan got a deflection goal in a chaotic moment near the goal. It was in the area of the keeper and has passed through numerous players before he was able to defect it into the goal.

"We played a phenomenal first half, controlled the ball well and ultimately kept things close. In the second half, we went out less confident and LIncoln was able to capitlize on a goal. From there they controlled the field for the first 20 minutes before we regained control. However, at this point, they stepped up defensively and though we had some good looks, we could not finish.

"In a last ditch effort to tie up the game, we pulled all of our players to the goal on a corner and Lincoln was able to force a breakaway to score their fifth goal in the last couple minutes of the game."
