ALTAMONT -- Teutopolis High School handed Altamont a 6-0 loss in soccer action Tuesday.

Kaleb Bannick scored three goals for the Wooden Shoes while Alex Deters, Jack Poelker and Alessio Bucciarelli tallied one each.

T-town had 22 shots on goal while Altamont had five shots on goal. Altamont's Kerry Robbins had 16 saves. The Indians drop to 2-4-2 and return to play Friday at Carlyle.

T-town improves to 6-2 on the season and returns to action Saturday at Arthur-Lovington.

Altamont claimed the junior varsity match, 1-0.

At Effingham

Effingham fell to Mattoon in action Tuesday, 6-2.

"It was a bit of a disapointment tonight," said EHS Coach Weston Peno. "We struggled to control the field and the first half was rough for us. After a quick goal from Mattoon and consistent control from them, our defense began to break down.

"The second half was not much better but with about 20 minutes left, we gained control of the field and kept on our side most of the time. The first half, Jett McMillan scored a great goal. Bryan Angel scored our other goal in the second half.

"I want to give a big shout out to Brandon Duncan. His play as goalie tonight was phenomenal. He had eight saves and they were very well done and clean."

The junior varsity played to a 3-3 tie.
