EHS Wins, St. A, Olney Play to Tie in Soccer

TAYLORVILLE -- Effingham High School put together an 8-2 victory over Taylorville in soccer action Saturday.

Bryan Angel scored two goals while Brennan Barr, Parker Siner, Tiago Stien, Tucker Moeller, Josh Bowlin and Cooper Jackson scored a goal each.

Ethan Boggs had one save.

 

At St. Anthony

St. Anthony played host to Olney and the two teams ended in a 2-2 tie.

Olney scored both of its goals in the first half. The first one with 13 minutes left and the second one with six minutes remaining.

Reilly Ashton had four saves in the first half and played the rest of the second half as a midfielder. With 19 minutes left in the second half, Ashton scored the first Bulldogs goal from a rebound and a minute later, Luke Swingler, scored from an assist by Brenden Quandt.

Jack Elder had five saves in the second half.

In the junior varsity contest, St. Anthony and Olney played to a 1-1 tie. Adam Brandenburger scored the equalizer goal from a break-away from the Bulldogs side of the field, outrunning the defense and beat the keeper.
