Effingham's Tucker Moeller (No. 12) takes control during action against Vandalia.

VANDALIA -- Effingham High School pounded host Vandalia to the tune of 14-1 in soccer competition Thursday.

Victor Carrillo and Parker Siner had four goals each for the Hearts while Said Angel and Cooper Jackson had three apiece.

Ethan Boggs had four saves for the Hearts.

 

At Olney

Effingham St. Anthony squared off against Olney and came out on the bottom end of a 3-2 score Thursday.

Olney scored first from a set piece with 9:20 to go in the first half.

In the second half, Quinton Milleville scored a header for a corner delivered by Moises Lemus with 24:41 to go. The second goal also came from a corner from Lemus with 16:10 on the clock. But this time the header was from Reilly Ashton.

Olney scored two quick goals with 7:20 and 5:48 on the clock. .The second goal came out of a penalty guessed right by Jack Elder. Elder had 16 saves.

Effingham's Said Angel goes up to knock the ball past Vandalia defenders.
