St. Anthony Wins, EHS Loses Soccer Matches

ALTAMONT -- Effingham St. Anthony blanked Altamont 5-0 in soccer competition Tuesday.

Senior Nick Goeckner started off the scoring for the Bulldogs at 36:39. Seniors Jack Nuxoll and Wyatt Lawrence added two goals each. The Bulldogs took a 4-0 first half lead then added on another goal in the second half.

Atlamont had 15 shots, seven on goal. Brenynne Abendroth had six saves.

St. Anthony had 16 shots, 11 on goal and seven saves.

The St. Anthony junior varsity also won 2-1. Jay Boatman and Nick Martelli had a goal each.

 

At Effingham

Effingham played host to Mahomet-Seymour and lost 10-0 in competition Tuesday.

In the first half, Mahomet-Seymour's Lippold started the scoring at the 31 minute mark followed by goals by Johnson, Carr, Bussman, Burgess and Knight,.

In the second half, M-S scored on goals by Lippold, Woodward, Whitehouse and Moore.

The Hearts' Alex Pasley had four saves in each half. EHS drops to 6-7.
