Effingham Hands Mount Vernon Soccer Loss

Effingham High School handed Mount Vernon a 3-1 loss in soccer competition Wednesday.

Cooper Jackson tallied two goals for the Hearts. Jackson scored at the 37 minute mark in the opening half with an assist from Said Angel. Alex Pasley had two saves in that half.

Mount Vernon's Randall scored a goal off a penalty kick with 36 minutes to tie the score.

In the second half, Noah Mulheron pushed the Hearts ahead with a goal on a penalty kick with 23 minutes. Jackson then knocked in his second goal on an assist from Victor Carrillo. Pasley had one save.
